STARFISH
The Starfish Classroom is our Pre-K program for children ages 4–5 and serves up to 15 children. The classroom is led by two Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) certified teachers.
The Starfish Classroom recognizes that all children learn at their own pace and in different ways. Using a multi-sensory, hands-on approach to learning, teachers support each child’s individual development while encouraging creativity, independence, and confidence in a nurturing and engaging environment.
Children are provided with valuable opportunities to strengthen social-emotional skills through play-based learning experiences. Through group activities and imaginative play, children learn to cooperate, compromise, problem-solve, think creatively, explore alternatives, make choices, and develop frustration tolerance and coping skills. Teachers guide and support children as they continue developing socially, emotionally, physically, and academically throughout the year.
Children in the Starfish Classroom continue expanding their early literacy and numeracy skills, including letter recognition, phonics, early writing, counting, patterns, and simple addition. Through meaningful, hands-on learning experiences, children build the foundational skills and confidence needed for a successful transition to kindergarten and beyond.
